On Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at halftime of the Jordan vs. Bingham basketball game, Coach Hal Hale was honored for his dedication and service as Jordan High's head basketball coach. Coach Hale played for Jordan High School from 1960-62 and helped the Beetdiggers win a state championship his junior year. He later played collegiately for the Utah State Aggies and professionally for the Houston Mavericks. After serving in Vietnam, where Coach Hale was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service to his country, Coach Hale decided to get into coaching. He assisted for two years at Jordan High, before taking over the head coaching position in 1974. He served as Jordan High's head coach until 2003, and then retired after winning a school record 389 games. His final season he led Jordan to the State Championship and finished as the state runner-up. A banner now hangs in Jordan High School's main gymnasium honoring Coach Hale's legacy and all he did for Jordan High School.
